DisposalEmail from a portable classroom disposal company
This is an email from a company that specializes in the moving and disposal of portable classrooms. I asked them a few questions about how they take these things away and what they do with them afterward, what types of laws and regulations that they must observe. Granted, the company *is* located in England, but I figured the laws and processes would be similar. The lady I talked to was very helpful and also included a Risk Assesment Sheet along with a checklist/method sheet they use for every project.
Website: Buying or selling a portable building
Here is an option for reuse of modular buildings. This website acts as a middle man between customers looking for buildings to buy and those looking to get rid of their buildings. They also have a referral service to direct users to places that can refurbish buildings, disposal services, appraisal, etc.

Study: Mobile Home Recycling
Not exactly school trailers, but this document is a look at mobile home recycling/disposal. A small town in Vermont lost a mobile home community to floods in 1998, and there was much question over what to do with the damaged homes. A team of students conducted a study to compare costs of straight out demolishing a home, or recycling part of it and then demolishing it. There is some helpful information about landfill regulations, companies that demolish mobile homes, and recycling processes.
